When Tyler’s Craft BBQ hit me up for new branding, they also blindsided me by asking for a sugar skull pig. Yep, you heard that right.
Sugar. Skull. Pig.
I can say it one more time if you need me to. Coming up with a design that worked as traditional branding and something that exotic was a bit of a stretch, but the result is unlike anything else I’ve ever done.
Ok, let’s talk about the skull.
The logo itself is simple enough; the name is a pig, the Q has a curly tail, it almost designs itself. The real challenge came with developing an illustration that could compliment this idea without dominating it, but was strong enough to be broken out as its own element.
In addition to the sugar skull it was designed with seasonal variation in mind. You know, Santa pig, Easter Bunny pig, Jack-O-Lantern pig, all the classics.
